Atopic Dermatitis Is More Than a Rash

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, so when you are struggling with skin issues, it can feel overwhelming. Often, when people hear eczema or atopic dermatitis, they assume it’s nothing more than a rash. However, those who have eczema know it is so much more and can include:

  • debilitating itching,
  • painful sores,
  • sleepless nights, and
  • trying to hide affected skin.

It can feel hopeless when your skin is angry, and no treatments have worked for you.

The medications that we currently have are available because of past clinical trials. These involved paying close attention to patients and conditions and dedicated researchers and doctors. Because of these trials we have a better understanding of diseases like eczema. The most important part of any clinical trial are the participants; they make advances in medicine possible. In return, clinical research offers participants access to researchers and investigators and consistent monitoring of their condition. Participants also may feel satisfied that they have contributed to the greater good.

Living with atopic dermatitis can feel endless and isolating. Joining a clinical trial can help you feel more connected and part of something larger. It can also help you feel hopeful for a future where your eczema is more manageable. A future you helped contribute to.
